Durban Business Fair 2014, which is the longest small medium business trade exhibition in Africa with over 600 exhibitors and 15000 visitors will take place on the 19 – 21 September at the Durban Exhibition Centre. The business community which has supported the fair for over 15 years, has responded to the call for registation with the exhibition space now officially sold out and has reached full space occupancy. Registration for exhibition closed on 30 June 2014.
A total space of 3526m2 was available for booking and it has been sold out within the set deadline of 30 June 2014, which is well in advance before the Fair takes place in September. This is a clear indication of the growing interest in the Fair from the business community and relevant stakeholders.
Mayor Cllr James Nxumalo said that the Durban Business Fair remains a key economic development platform that has produced many success stories. “We are encouraged by the continuously growing impact of the Fair to the business community particularly small businesses because of their strategic role to the growth of our economy,” says Nxumalo.
He added that the Municipality will continue with its commitment to create a participatory environment for businesses to access growth opportunities.
Head of Business Support, Tourism and Markets Unit, Phillip Sithole says early registration from businesses should be encouraged and applauded because it allows for more time towards planning a world-class exhibition.
Sithole says that the Durban Business Fair is one of the Municipality’s flagship programmes aimed at creating a platform for business growth and development, and it is encouraging that our business community and relevant stakeholders are now taking full advantage of such platforms created for their benefit.
The Durban Business Fair continues to introduce new elements aimed at enhancing the overall business, exhibitor and visitor experience, and this year it will introduce new innovations such as Business Connect, Speed Networking and My Startup – I Am an Entrepreneur.
